5 prompts to get started with REMI: Your renewable energy management intelligence

Written by Power Factors | May 7, 2026 5:38:38 PM

The world added a record 793 GW of renewable capacity in 2025 and the IEA projects another 4,600 GW will come online by 2030.

For the teams managing those assets, the math is unforgiving: portfolios of solar, wind, and BESS projects are growing faster than the headcount needed to run them.

AI tools promise to help you manage these growing challenges by surfacing critical insights and speeding up complex decisions. But not all AI is created equal. Generic tools lack the industry context and reliability needed for renewable energy operations.

That's why we built Unity REMI (Renewable Energy Management Intelligence), the first AI of its kind built directly into renewable energy management software.

Unity REMI is an intelligence engine embedded in Unity Asset Performance Management (APM), purpose-built to make data and insights more accessible in the flow of your work. Ask a natural language question about live portfolio data, such as recent events, alerts, or anomalies, and REMI provides a summary with likely causes and recommended next steps. Because it draws from your portfolio's historical data and configurations inside the Unity platform, contextualized by operational data from 310 GW of assets, there is no need to train or manage an external tool. Your team stays in the platform, working within the workflows and tools they already use.

Here are five prompts your team can use to get started with Unity REMI:

Prompt # 1 "What needs my attention today?"

Before REMI: Asset managers often start their day by reviewing events and alerts, cross-referencing them with historical data stored in the platform. While Unity APM provides a strong foundation for event tracking, managers typically spend time synthesizing that information into a prioritized plan for the day, which can take up to 45 minutes.

With REMI: Start your day by simply asking REMI for a summary. The AI assistant instantly returns key priorities, such as top events, underperforming assets, and open investigations, and surfaces other relevant insights depending on the context of the question and the story your underlying asset data is telling that day. You can follow up immediately by asking about specific turbines or sites to get recent KPI trajectories.

The impact: What used to take nearly an hour now takes under seven minutes. Your team spends less time identifying the areas to focus on first and more time taking action on priority items for the day.

Prompt # 2 "What's causing the underperformance on Inverter 4 at Site X?"

Before REMI: When an O&M analyst notices an alert, the real work is just beginning. Diagnosing root cause means cross-referencing OEM fault codes in external manuals, checking historical events, and comparing current KPIs against expected baselines, all before you can even begin documenting a decision. A single investigation can easily take 90 minutes.

With REMI: REMI already surfaced the alert during your morning summary. When you ask for the cause, REMI explains the specific fault code, surfaces related historical events, and compares the data to your baseline. It even recommends a diagnostic checklist for you to complete.

The impact: REMI summarizes the event comment history so you’re up to speed before you've even picked up the phone. Troubleshooting time drops from 90 minutes to under 20 minutes.

Prompt # 3 "Why is the performance ratio lower than last month for Site Y?"

Before REMI: Stakeholders constantly ask for explanations regarding changing metrics. To answer, finance analysts typically access performance data for the exact performance ratio formula but may need to pull additional information from spreadsheets or documentation to explain metric changes. This process can involve recalculating inputs and escalating questions to senior analysts.

With REMI: Type the question directly into REMI. It provides a step-by-step, documentation-linked explanation using live data and historical inputs from Unity APM, instantly surfacing the variable driving the change. No need to escalate for answers.

The impact: You can copy and paste REMI's clear explanation directly into your stakeholder communication. A task that once took up to two hours now takes under five minutes.

Prompt #4 "How do I set up a custom availability calculation?"

Before REMI: Onboarding a new team member or migrating to a new platform often involves extensive training sessions, alongside recorded videos and informal guidance from colleagues. While Unity APM offers an intuitive and user-friendly interface, new users may still need guidance to navigate advanced features or configurations, often relying on documentation for clarification.

With REMI: REMI provides step-by-step guidance directly within Unity APM. It links to relevant documentation and answers follow-up questions in real time, reducing reliance on external resources and speeding up onboarding.

The impact: Experienced colleagues stay focused on high-value tasks and new team members cut their time-to-proficiency down to days instead of weeks.

Prompt # 5 "What's the recommended next action based on what's been tried?"

Before REMI: When an escalation manager takes over a complex event they often need to sift through a long list of comments to fully understand what actions have been taken and what is currently unresolved. This review process can take up to 30 minutes.

With REMI: Open the event and you will find a REMI comment summary already embedded, pulling together the full history of what has been tried and what remains open. From there, you can ask for a recommended next action and receive a targeted suggestion based on everything the team has documented, without trying to follow all the back-and-forth yourself.

The impact: You become immediately productive without reading every single comment. Complex event handoffs now take just two to three minutes.

The way renewable energy teams work is changing

REMI does not replace your team. It multiplies what makes them valuable: their expertise, speed, and judgment. By moving away from manual data gathering and embracing embedded AI designed for renewable energy, you save hours each week, catch issues before they become costly, and give your team the clarity they need to make smart decisions quickly. And as your portfolio grows, your existing team grows with it, without adding headcount.
