A new chapter at Power Factors
Over the past few years, Power Factors has been on an exciting journey of growth and transformation, just like the renewable energy industry we serve. As we expand our product offerings to equip clean energy stakeholders for the future, we’re excited to welcome two new executive leaders to help guide us into the next chapter: Deborah Beatty, Chief Strategy Officer, and Sarah Le Roy, Chief Human Resources Officer.
Deborah brings a wealth of experience in developing and operationalizing innovative strategies across diverse markets. Before joining Power Factors, she was Senior Vice President of Corporate Strategy & Analytics at PointClickCare and has held key roles such as Head of Strategy for Middle East & Africa at Apple Inc., COO of Monitor Company, and Vice President of Digital at Astral Media and Corus Entertainment.
Sarah comes from a background of transforming enterprises during critical moments in their development. Prior to Power Factors, she held senior roles at Forrester, Goldman Sachs, and RSA Security, with broad, global experience across technology, life sciences, and financial services.
After one month in their new roles, Deborah and Sarah share their insights on where we’re headed and what makes Power Factors an inspiring place to work:
Deborah Beatty: Chief Strategy Officer
What attracted you to the opportunity at Power Factors?
Deborah: This role was interesting to me for a number of reasons. First, I wanted to be part of a mission-driven organization, and Power Factors’ work in the renewable energy sector, enabling decarbonization, really appealed to me.
I was also excited by the strong growth potential of our business. Being in an industry that's growing and evolving so rapidly opens up opportunities and makes strategy critically important. Power Factors manages over 300 GW of renewable energy assets and is expanding into emerging areas such as AI and battery energy storage, so it’s clear that we have big ambitions for the future.
Finally, being a part of the Vista Equity Partners portfolio also gives us a strong mandate to drive growth and expand our industry leadership.
What are some of your observations now that you are one month in?
Deborah: A few things have really stood out for me over the last month:
First, our people are so passionate about what we do, and this makes for an amazing, collaborative, and high-performing culture.
Next, there are so many opportunities for expansion. We know there are many paths we could take as the industry grows, but our focus is clear: to help our customers get the most out of their renewable energy assets so we can continue to make strides towards a decarbonized future.
My last observation is that with growth comes change. As the industry consolidates and diversifies, clean energy companies will need a robust set of tools to manage their businesses. Our Unity renewable energy management suite (REMS) stands out because it serves the entire value chain with a set of domain-specific, integrated solutions offering unmatched scalability and visibility into asset performance.
What excites you about the future of Power Factors?
Deborah: The upcoming release of our Unity Asset Performance Management (APM) solution is an exciting milestone. It builds on the asset performance products our customers trust and expands on those capabilities in innovative ways. Unity APM will be generally available this fall and will transform how portfolios are managed going forward.
We're excited about the opportunity for our SCADA products in the U.S., building on our strong presence in Europe. And our focus on battery energy storage is particularly promising, as it opens new revenue streams for our customers and supports industry growth.
How does your previous strategic experience lend itself to helping Power Factors realize this future?
Deborah: Strategy is about choices. At Power Factors, we have so much opportunity in front of us that charting a careful course forward is critical.
My background in strategy, partnerships, and business transformation brings a new lens to our team and complements our ambitious vision. Having worked in B2B SaaS companies before, many of the questions we are facing today are questions I have tackled successfully in other organizations.
Sarah Le Roy: Chief Human Resources Officer
What attracted you to the opportunity at Power Factors?
Sarah: The chance to join Power Factors was exciting for me. I’ve worked in tech, healthcare, and cybersecurity before, but the opportunity to be at the forefront of the renewable energy movement was something I couldn’t pass up.
What really drew me in was not only the vision for the business or the impact of the industry, but also the energy and passion that everyone brings to work every day. The thoughtful approach leaders take towards our colleagues and teams around the world was also a huge factor for me—it really sets the tone for a positive, people-first culture.
What are some of your observations now that you have been with Power Factors for one month?
Sarah: Power Factors is on the brink of something significant. We continue to grow and invest globally, and I think we have some of the best people in the industry committed to reducing carbon emissions and making this planet a healthier place to live.
As CHRO, there's nothing more exciting than working for an organization where the people are engaged and the products and services are best-in-class.
How does culture impact long-term success?
Sarah: Culture truly is a superpower. When you get it right, it creates an environment where everyone feels inspired and ready to bring their best selves to work.
In our industry, where consolidation is common and global companies merge, making sure all those teams come together smoothly is key. It’s not just about having a great social atmosphere; prioritizing the operational side of things and removing friction to ensure everyone works well together is equally critical.
How would you describe the culture we’re building?
Sarah: I’m going to borrow from the Canadians for this one, as Canada often describes itself as a mosaic of cultures. We truly have a dynamic mix of global perspectives, and quite different working norms, and as CHRO, one of the most challenging and rewarding agenda items is to nurture a unified culture from that mosaic. I believe our culture is our secret sauce.
What defines a culture of excellence?
Sarah: There are a few themes that often follow a culture of excellence: accountability, high performance, and a customer-centric approach. It’s about stepping out of comfort zones, delivering on commitments, and supporting each other to exceed expectations.
Our pace of work and responsiveness are also crucial components of this culture, driving us to continuously improve and excel. Coupled with that laser focus on delivering to our customers, we also must deliver on our culture promises by actively engaging with and supporting our colleagues.
Looking ahead
At Power Factors, we know that strong leadership and a dynamic, people-centered culture are the keys to long-term success. As we continue to grow and innovate, leaders like Deborah and Sarah are helping us push the boundaries of innovation, unite our teams, and deliver renewable energy solutions that will enable our customers to have a real impact on the energy transition. The road ahead is full of opportunity, and we're excited to see where it takes us.
